MP3 play

OK, I know this has been discussed at length, but maybe my experience last weekend can help out others that are in a similar situation as I was and want to play MP3s on their OEM unit.

First off, some details about my car. It's an 2004 6spd MT first made for Japan, but was imported to Cyprus at some point. I'm it's second owner here for the past 6 months or so. The face of the console has MP3 written on it (but no BOSE so maybe it's not a BOSE system), I dont know if it was ever changed, but the player only played original audio CDs, no audio copies and surely no MP3 disks, even after trying to burn them with a few differend burners at various speeds. So a few days and quite a few blank CDs later, I was nowhere. Still a big thanks to all the guys who posted their experiences to help out.

I came across the AUX thing on ebay where you can hook up on it a USB, SD card or MP3 player (IPod etc) but all of the sellers (and I think even some ppl here) said that it required firmware version of 9.55 and above to work. Sure enough mine was 9.54...

After talking with a mechanic friend who specialized in rotary cars, he mentioend that he had quite a few radios to spare, so I might aswell buy it and we would find a radio that could work with it. And so I did.

Having the experience he has, he removed the glove box, and using a flashlight he hooked up the AUX in a matter of seconds, no flace plate removing or screwdrivers needed, nothing, and behold, AC/DC came on :)

Now, I cannot say that this will work for everyone or anyone that is in the same situation as me, but maybe it can help at least a tiny bit.

The AUX thingy has "Yatour" written on it, and for USB and SD card, it will take up to 16GB which I think is enough ;) Will post pics of it when I get home. It cost me 60GBP including delivery and I am extremely pleased with it.

Once again, thanks to everyone who posted all the helpfull posts regarding this issue!

Pretty sweet he didn't have to remove the headunit in order to connect the AUX module. But I think this is because you have a right-hand drive RX8, yes?

gfailure 07-30-2012 08:55 AM

Ah yes, we do have correct-hand drive here :D

firebirdude 07-30-2012 09:00 AM

haha The driver may sit on the right, but you drive on the left side of the road too. So it's the same thing.

Of course, I think shifting gears with the left hand kinda sucks.

gfailure 07-30-2012 09:28 AM

Well, I'm sure it's something you can get used to, but I'm a lefty anw!!

i have the same problem

Hi, i ahve the same problem, jsut bought a 2007 rx8 nemesis witht eh 6cd changer and bose system. firmware version 10.01. everywhere i look it tells me that the adaptors arent compatable with the firware, just like yours. do you know what the guy plugged the adaptor into? was it the spare tape slot or into the cd changer slot. thinking of just buying what you got having seen your post and giving it a go, but any further advice you can give would be apreciated.

cheers

I have a 06. I just bought a FM transmitter/bluetooth. Connects into the cars ciggy lighter port.

Cost $6.62 USA delivered to my front door from China, via Ebay.
Has an USB input where I connect a micro SD card with USB adapter.
I only have 4 and 8Gb micro cards. About 800-900 songs per 4Gb.
Only plays MP3s. no flac

But I can play anything audio from my Gphone S3 with the 3.5mm cable connected between S3 and FM transmitter.

Another good...get get and make calls thru the cars stereo.

Hi,
I did not understand if you've changed the radio or you've stayed with your old one version 9.54? I am asking you because mine is 9.53 and I have been thinking to buy the same yatour BT adapter as yours, but all yatours i found, they require head unit firmware 9.55 or higher. So if it worked for you with 9.54, then it will most likely work with mine as well. I live in Cyprus as well.

gfailure 09-13-2015 02:34 AM

Hi,

No, radio stayed as it was, the player worked with no problems on the first go ;)

fclevski 09-13-2015 08:46 AM

Perfect! This is really a great news :yelrotflm:yelrotflm:yelrotflm:yelrotflm:yelrotflm :yelrotflm:yelrotflm:yelrotflm as Yatour are really good. I am using one on my Grand Vitara and I am really happy with it. Thanks for your quick reply, much appreciated :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Yatour Digital Music Changer with Bluetooth Device

2 Attachment(s)
So, guys I can officially confirm that The Yatour Digital Music Changer works with my stereo BOSE with firmware 9.53. :ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsu per::ylsuper:I also bought Bluetooth adapter with microphone and remote control. The Bluetooth connected to the Yatour Digital changer allows me to play music from my smartphone absolutely wireless. I just need to have my phone's bluetooth 'on' and there you go, I can play mp3, radio stations (with 3G) on my car stereo. The sound is much clearer, louder playing via the Bluetooth device rather then with USB or mini disk plugged in the Yatour changer. :dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::d ubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs: In addition, I can make and receive calls - hands free, using the Bluetooth device. If someone calls me or if I dial, the music automatically shuts down so the call can be made. I can hear the voice of the person I am talking with coming from the car stereo, and I use the microphone to talk. If someone calls me, I use the little remote control to answer, which is really convenient. Once the call is over, the music continues automatically. It is a great device and I highly recommend it!!!! You can find it on eBay.

Here is a link to buy the Yatour Music Changer, the Bluetooth and the Microphone

Here is a link to get the remote control:

This guys are really good and professional. They always reply to their emails and they send their parcels registered.

Hey does the skip/rewind work from the steering wheel and the head unit face?
Can you pick up the calls with those controls assembly?

The skip/rewind works if you are playing music from the Yatour Digital Music Changer via USB or mini disk. If you are playing music from your smart phone via the bluetooth adapter, then the skip/rewind buttons on the stereo or/and steering wheel will NOT work and you will have to use the ones on your phone. However, there is an Yatour Digital Music Changer specifically designed for iPhone users and it comes with an extra cable, which you can plug into the charging port of your iPhone. In such case you can use the skip/rewind buttons on the car stereo and steering wheel.

I personally like the convenience of the Bluetooth and I do not mind that I cannot use the skip/rewind buttons of my stereo. :dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs::dubs:

In regards to answering and making calls see what I wrote in my previous post.

"In addition, I can make and receive calls - hands free, using the Bluetooth device. If someone calls me or if I dial, the music automatically shuts down so the call can be made. Thanks for that. My question abou the calls was regarding the steering wheel buttons
(Next button to answer back button to reject)

But it seems as Bluetooth this doesn't work

Thanks for the reply

This works people. If you have a 9.53 radio this thing works like a charm.

I bought from this seller that ships from amazon and has 30 day returns, so you have fast shipping in the us and if it didnt work i was covered by amazons return policy as well.

But no need for that, i just installed this on my 04 rx8 with 9.53 firmware, works perfectly, Words cant describe how hyped i am over this.

No need to fuck around with a CD for a hacked aux, no need to worry about alternator whine if youre charging your phone. It connects to the cd port and just works.

Also the one i linked has a built in AUX input and a short aux cable, It comes with a mic for Bluetooth calling and it has a usb charging port.

Best 80 bux i ever spent.
