Metra kit and temp settings

Hello all,

My 2004 rx8 started having issues where it only blows cold air no matter the setting. I have a double din metra kit with a pioneer unit. The HVAC worked great for years, I did have a similar issue a few years ago and re-soldering the three connectors worked great. I figured they might have cracked again and redid it, but unfortunately it didn't work this time. I tried accessing the a/c temp settings but I am not sure how to do it with the metra kit since the power button and scan up aren't there anymore, does anyone know it this can be done to check if its operating properly when i change from hot to cold.

Things that I have noticed/done

It does come on from time to time if i jump on the high way.
Re-soldering the three connectors
I have not messed with the axxess box (not sure if unplugging and replugging will fix this)
The fan control work fine, so does the a/c button and the controls for where the air should come out of. I can change all metra settings without any issues, clock, temp display, and text.

2004 Mazda rx8 6spd man ~95k miles.

Thanks,

Same thing happened to me. It's an issue with the heater core :
a) low coolant level (most likely)
b) the heater core is clogged

If it's b, the solution is to pull off the washer fluid reservoir to get to the hoses that go the heater core, pull them off and flush with a garden hose (there are DIYs on here somewhere)

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll make sure to check once I get home today.
