Mazda 5 Nav System Disc Compatible w/RX-8 System?

Unfortunately the answer is no. I was at my local dealership, Hubler Mazda on the South Side of Indianapolis. They let me swap the discs to see if they would work on the RX-8. NOPE... The "Can't Read Disc" bar flashes.

Although there is definitely new software, and alot less colorful than the blue and tan screens we aer used to the new system looks just like ours when it is in driving mode. I guess my next question woudl be ... would the Mazda 5 DVD player swap out with the RX-8 version? Anyone know?

duh! Thanks Einstein for wasting your time for trying this at the dealership and our time for having it on the forum to read.

As for the Mazda 5 unit swapping with the RX-8 version...I hope so but doubt it...there is the voice navigation microphone that would need installation and the integration with the stereo is probably different...I won't even think about the GPS antenna or what video specifications it incorporates.

/Flyboyindy is regretfully my friend...other forum members don't take my insults seriously :p

Probably just a matter of time before someone on this forum figures out how to retrofit the 2006 RX-8 nav to older models. Like the 2005 keyless entry.
As for map updates, I hear that Ford/Lincoln DVD will work. We are still waiting for the software update from Mazda.
