Line Output Converter or Speaker Level Inputs?
 

I have the base stereo, and have been upgrading it. I replaced the speakers first. Now I'm looking to add a sub and amp(s). I'm savvy enough to do the installs, however I lack the knowledge to select the best way to go about it. The amp(s) will be in the trunk and power the sub and the four speakers.

Questions:

Since I have the base stereo, is it better to just use the high-level inputs, or get a LOC and use RCA inputs?

If I do speaker level inputs, I will have to run the front speakers to the trunk, and then back up to the front. Will this cause excessive interference?

Would it be better to use the LOC, the front speakers LOC up front, run the RCA cables to the rear, and then speaker lines back to the front? Both LOC's up front and run two sets of RCA's to the rear? Would this cause less interference?

Just looking for some advice from some of the professionals out there on what would be the best setup or standard practice.

I wouldn't think running the front speaker wire back to the amp would introduce any more interference than you're already getting in the rear speaker wires going to the same place. If you were going to mount converters up front and then line level wires back to the amp, you'd probably want to do the same for the rears. I don't know if the difference would be something you would notice or not though.

I am planning with my base stereo to do converters up front and then run RCA's to the rear. Then I will run speaker wire back up to the front of the car.

There are a lot of threads out there on upgrading your stereo system. Try searching for them.

I'd say it depends on your setup. If you are going to run amps to the front and rear speakers (which you seem to be) then I'd say run 4 channels of line converters (front and rear) to the trunk and then run the powered speaker lines back up front to the speakers. make sure to use high quality, well-insulated RCA cables and ground those amps well!
