I watched the video and I'm not usually negative about things but what is the point of that blinker? Seems like an expensive bunch of nothing. Why would you want your blinker to blink only 3 times? Is it for all those people i'm constantly driving behind and they can't seem to take the time to look at their instrument cluster because they are on the phone and don't realize that their left blinker has been on for 10 miles?

It's so those type of people don't have to turn the blinkers "on". They can just tap the stick and the blinkers will blink 3 (or 4 or 5) times instead of just once.

I might consider this for $10, but not for $80.

As a cyclist, I encounter a lot of BMWs drivers that don't seem to know what the turn signal is for. To hear that it is a standard feature gives me great joy.

I think it's a pretty cool idea, though I'm not sure I'd ever get one for my car.

Yeah, I don't really think this is worth the money. I see about 10,000 times more people not use their blinkers than leaving them for miles. This would still require people to do something and most people are so damn lazy it's not going to help. I would love to see lane-departure warning systems that essentially force people to put on their turn signal before changes lanes unless they want to hear an annoying beep.

Yes, I do use my turn signal all the time. Still, this is unnecessary and a gimmick IMO.

It doesn't limit the blinker to only three times.

It uses the 'lane change' tap - where you would lift the stalk, but not actually push it so far that it stays - to flash the indicators before changing lanes. In this case, it notes that and flashes 3, 4 or 5 times according to settings.

If you push the stalk all the way so it clicks on it behaves as normal.

I understood what it does just fine.

I'm more interested in their retrofit HUD.

Kidding. If it gets people to use their turn signals more often I think it's a great product. I can manage without.

Actually, your first comment is more in line with my thinking. I wouldn't want to be rude to the poster (especially if he designed or sells the product - nice first post), but seriously, this seems like too much help. Most of us (self included) drive manual transmission cars - I don't need help with the shifting and I can manage the turn signal just fine on my own thank-you-very-much.

I'm aware of the operation of the thing, and aware that you can change how many times it can blink. And I was also fully aware that someone like you would be sure to point that out, even though I was using 3 blinks as an example. rock on...

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the proper way to change lanes is to use the signal to alert other motorists to your intentions and leave the signal ON while you verify you can safely change lanes, and CONTINUE to leave the signal ON until you are established in the new lane. So one blink, or three, or even five is the wrong way to do it. What is the point of a brief notice?

I am also investigating the market to see what it mean for different car market. :) But unfortunally it is not priceline, we (and that include myself) don't get to name our own price :(

I will take notes that the Rx8 market is not interested in the Komfortblinker, but can see value in the EFU / HUD.

btw, nubo, you get to do both.. the feature allow you to do a quick 3 bling, or contstant lock on bling :) and is design in a fail safe mode so that if a component failed the original flasher will still work. Yes, all new VW / Audi / BMW/ Mercedes all have this features.. that some found useful or desire feature.

When I was back in Germany last spring, I got a rental car that had this "feature"...
I learned to deeply hate it! If you need to signal, for exampple, first right, then left, the darn thing insits
to finish the first n-blink cycle first before it switched to the other side! Also, if you accidentially touch the
turn signal swith, in a normal car this would hardly result in a visible signalling. But with this thing, it goes
"blink - blink - blink", and you can do nothing against it!

This "improvement" is the same crap like "rain-sensing wipers". That rental had those too, and I hated them
even more than the turn signal. If you had a long drive and accumulated dust and bugs on your windshield,
you want to wait to wipe it clean in a relaxed moment, and when enough rain water is available to support the
washer. But that stupid rain sensor swithched the wipers on at the very first drops and smeered the bug carcasses
all over the window in high-attention situations...

Ok, I'm not against those "improvements", but PLEASE give the driver an option to disable them!

I used a VW in Belgium with this feature and I hated it. If you accidentally tapped the stalk, you were now stuck blinking 3-4 times like an idiot. In the 8, if I accidentally tap it, all I get is a brief flash.
