Kicker Sub - I give up searching.
I'm tired of searching, been browsing/searching for an hour, so screw it, I clicked new thread :cussing:
Anyways, Bose is nice, but there's no oomph, no bass, it's bland. I want to add a Solo-Baric 7 8" or 10" and just want to know if I can tie it into the stock (bose) amp & speaker setup and call it a day. i.e. only buy the woofer, plug it in, close the trunk, and enjoy my techno with good bass response from the woofer. |
Yes, you just need to tap the rear speaker wires for signal, via a line output converter (LOC).
Just find the thread that tells you which wires are what.. |

he ment for the signal to go to your amp, take the outputs of the bose amp, use the loc to clean the output or what ever it does then send that source to your amp.
i may be wrong but i thought you could tap the signal going to the amp before it adds crazy eq to the signal. I did this on my mazda 6 that had bose my rx8 doesnt have bose so i was just able to tap the rear signal and the head unit on the base model outputs pretty cleanly |

ahhh, well not so sure about using the stock amp, i dont think the 8 has a dedicated subwoofer like the 6 did. even then the sub amp in the 6 was pretty tiny (i could unplug it and not notice a diff)
the best solution is still to use a seperate amp and get signal, i just bought a 1,100watt(continuous rms) amp for 250$ for a more normal level for what you want shouldnt be that expensive. i am using a dayton 10 ho slot port tuned to 30 hz believe the bose 8 uses the front doors as woofers and doubt it would be able to run a external sub on the same amp |
Thanks for the replies, so if I understand correctly, get a new amp (more powerful), and replace the stock one with it?
|
you would leave the stock one there as that would power your inside speaker and add a amp with the LOC mentioned above,
the new amp will power the new sub. as for setting up the loc, no idea i dont have bose on the 8 and it wasnt required on the 6 |
I have a Kicker L7 tied in to my stock head unit. but i also have a 1000.1 kicker amp on it. stock radio and amp wouldn't even move that sub

heh speaking of that the non bose head unit cant push my clarion components hard at all, ive acturaly had it at max and it wasnt loud, i dont want to think of what the stock amp plus a sub would do
Bassotronics - Bass, I Love You : it was fun seeing it try to play that |
darklord: see my bose upgrade thread for a good LOC. I've been using it for years.
Searching for that damn post with the wires will be a pain but if you find it, can you PM me with the link and I"ll add it to my thread for easier access. plug loc to headunit, plug in amp, mount subwoofer, and enjoy the bass. |
also remember to turn it down before u go anywhere to park .... or else people may want to steal it... my hard learned lesson, also look up how your insurance will cover it, mine screwed me by saying i had not bolted it down ....

I'd like to hear your theory on how the OEM Bose amplifier is going to drive a passive sub like the solobaric L7??:uhh:
Yes that is what I meant, but ahh, I reread the OPs post. I see was you mean. I guess I just assumed that the OP was going to use another amp (not the bose). I withdraw my response, my bad OP.. Im fairly certain it will not be possible without using a proper amp to power the sub. |
