Ipod integration installation????
 

Recently purchased the Audio Link integration kit

I see alot of folks have done this and was looking for some general help. I have found the sites to install and they have pretty good graphics to install and pretty simplistic instructions. But none say the best place to install it to.

My question is has anyone had the install done where the wires can be run to the center console above the cup holders where the top lid flips up and you have the extra power port there??? This would be a great location to install the ipod connection to by even drilling a small hole next to the extra power plug. Can this be odne with the wires hidden??? Anyone attempt this??? All I have been able to find is folks who put it in the glove box.

Thanks in advance-- any help is appreciated-- will attempt tomorrow and expect a huge PITA but I refuse to pay 100 bucks to have someone ele install when Iam samrt enough to do it but with my big freaking hands I expect a real PITA. You guys that have doenit 90 min-- WOW!!!

Just did it myself with the help of this link:

Took about an hour and a half. My first time ever tearing into an RX8, so I didn't really know what to expect. I'm sure I could do it again in under an hour now. I didn't find "the hidden bolt" to be very hard. Hardest part was unclipping the wiring harness for the a/c controls. I used a jeweler's screwdriver to push the tab up while I pulled. Still pretty tough.... not much room under there....
