Iphone 4s and Grom

Hi all
It has been 2 days trying to get this GROM IPD3 to work with my '04 8. I bought the car a couple of weeks ago. 40k mileage. A little bit to do, as the head unit was dead. Bought a new one for £90 on ebay. It did not work either!. Found out why, and have now got 2 good radios, one at v9.55 and the other at v9.67
So, I bought the IPD3 and the Bluetooth dongle last week, and fitted it as per instructions. It sort of works, but is a real mess

So, with bluetooth on and NOT connected to the cable everything does what it say on the tin, but that is not much use if I cannot charge it.

Connected the cable and a few things went wrong.
1) The display shows EX:50 00 and flashes intemittently
2) The IPOD part of the iphone 4S now flashes, trying to do something, and not managing.
3) If I press the intermittantly flashing play button on the iphone it usually starts playing, and may or may not carry on.
4) If it does play then the back button on the top left of the screen, which takes me back to the artist/album/track listing no longer works. This is BAD, as it can only be corrected by rebooting the iphone.

If I disconnect and try reconnecting then sometimes it reverts back to playing properly but then I cannot work out whether I am in simple or advanced mode.

Altogether this has been 2 days of my life I'll never get back. It does not seem to be common, judging by the googling I have done, but it does not seem to be a very stable system.

Anybody knows what is going on?
Much appreciated
Steve

GROM problem resolved (hard to believe this one)

I posted a problem about the integration kit for an iPhone, by Grom. After 2 days I was tearing my hair out. Worked with Bluetooth, but really messed up when the ihone cable was plugged in. So many problems.

After speaking to Grom the solution turned out to be the iPhone. If your iphone name has an apostrophe in it then there may be troubles to come.

So if you have problems with your iPhone integration change your iPhone name first

Steve's iPhone
To
Steves iPhone

Best to do it in iTunes but you can do it in Settings

So the iPhone worked on Bluetooth but NOT when connected via the apple style iPod connector?

I am using a 4s with Grom and have an iPod cable but have never tried to use it for the iPhone... hmm.
I have an '04 with HU v9.67
I've always used the usb charger port (the cable with the 3.5mm input) to charge the iPhone and run everything through bluetooth.
Did they say why the apostrophe only impacts the cabled installation?
