that's pretty cool... useless, but pretty damn cool.

I've seen that and commented on it before. Here's the gist of what I, and many that have seen it before, think about a knob that tells you what gear you are in:

a) It's cool for "student drivers" and "driver's ed." cars
b) It's cool for teenage girls
c) Your palm covers the LED numbers, so it's pretty uselss when you are shifting
d) Why do you need a shift knob to tell you which of six gears you are in?
e) What happens when the wire breaks/battery dies?--How do you know what gear you are in?
f) It looks longer/taller than most OEM shift knobs thus, making your shifts slower
g) It's not real carbon fiber thus, making you just long for real carbon fiber
h) It's cool for teenage girls...
i) Which Kragen's Auto/Target/K-Mart/Walmart/Safeway/gas station can I pick this up at?

Maybe if it worked with the auto's like D, R, N because whenever somebody gets in to drive my car they can never tell what its in and they don't know to look at the dash.

PRND21...how hard can that be? I've it memorized and I haven't driven an AT in...almost a year (wife's Honda Accord)!

*it's cool for teenage girls. And it's the perfect compliment for: http://www.turbonator.com/Assets/sale.jpghttp://www.globalautoshop.com/images...ercharger2.jpg

I concur, looks cool but useless.

NgoRX8 04-27-2007 06:09 PM

looks weird

WikkedOne 04-27-2007 09:00 PM

I have it memorized too.. but people that get in the shifter doesn't just go straight back like most cars.. it looks like a race track going from park to drive - or the manual/auto mode -- people aren't used to that and they don't know what gear its in when they start moving it up and down and left and right...

hemanrulez 04-27-2007 11:15 PM

looks cool, my only problem with aftermarket shifters is that they become loose and rattle over time

ckape 04-27-2007 11:36 PM

Looks cool, but when I'm shifting I don't want to be looking at my shift knob.

thebiggdaddy 04-28-2007 11:53 PM

i think it looks pretty nice.

Actually, "PRND21" is not so true to many cars anymore. Especially ones with selectable gearing and/or such as SMG, etc.

Posted on the Blog.

"that is awesome!!! ill take the red one. would match a civic si's speedo. then again the si does have a nice shifter already. any way to get rid of the gaslock words on it though?"
