Integrated looking Ipod mount options?
Anybody know of any good looking 'integrated' ipod mounts? I'm not looking for something that mounts on a vent or anything like that.
The only good place I could think to mount the ipod would be sticking out of the ashtray (remove the ashtray and door, the Ipod would be vertical, sticking out.) If there isn't anything like this available, it looks like DIY will be in order. My thoughts are either the above, with a basic ipod interface (which uses radio controls,) or to use the empty area where the casette/Minidisc goes, and have the ipod slide in, bottom first with only enough of the top sticking out to be able to remove it. With that mounting spot a full ipod interface with text on the radio LCD would be preferred. Any thoughts? |
Try http://www.proclipusa.com. It is what I use it it is perfect. It is a 2 part system The mount clip and then the holder.

The Kuda ain't bad looking, but damn, $116.. I think I'm going to have to try my hand at some DIY fiberglass (never used it inside the car before..)

If you have a system then I recommend getting a Clean Sweep with an aux input. Then simply connect that to your Ipod. Thats what I do. Works great.

What's clean sweep? I plan on using an interface that allows control of the ipod, not just audio passthrough.
|
Plus, I have a CleanSweep and I can't find anywhere to mount the iPod to it that looks integrated.
|
personally i like mine in the glovebox so passers-by won't get any ideas.

thinking I want to make something that sits in the ashtray, with the touch laying sideways
|
If you cut a whole in the back of the ashtray, without the insert so you can cover the hole later, you could put an iPod in the ashtray and never see it. There is enough room behind there for pretty much any portable mp3, even those classic CD Player looking ones.

i've also been thinking about this actually. i'm planning on getting one of those cheap mounts and custom make it to fit the hole beside the glove compartment. i want those adjustable ones so a PSP can fit when the GPS function comes out for it. i gave up on the carpc/corksport/navi tray idea. this would be a cheaper solution for me
