Infiniti speaker purchase

6810cs and 9612 for an '04 base sound system. have mp3 player and will add bass later.

has anyone installed these speakers or run into fitment issues?

I went with the Kappa Series KAPPA693.7I for the rear. They fit perfectly.

i have no doubt those sound fantastic. the 9612 are just 62.99 and the 6810 are 103.99. so i see this as a cheap 200$ upgrade. i am not planning an external amp and am looking mostly for a speaker that will sound good on the 8 watt (guesing) head unit. they are 95 db which may make it work the extra money. i would prefer to have the soundstage in the front and would be more inclined to increase my purchase only for the front set.

My infinity speakers are running off the standard Bose Amp. Here's a link to my stereo build: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/jedis-bose-stereo-upgrade-103771/

A buddy of mine has Infinity Subs in his 8 and he LOVES them. They sound pretty damn good.

you my freind have a bigger plan in your head than me and appear to be much better at the installation. i would like to not alter the look of the car. i do not want to add any weight. will use a small amount of dyna mat and baffles. i will want to mount the x-over very securely in the door to keep high G's possible. plan is for tweeters to use the exsisting housing. i would like to run all new cable but without the amp i am not sure it is worth the effort.

when/if i add bass i plan on using a single 10' in the same enclosure you use. and if i splurge buy a multichannel amp instaead of a mono.

i have a big redtop in the car but am not to comfortable installing the amp myself.

Definitely don't need to waste time running new speaker wires for your situation.

Does anybody read the OP? He's running the BASE stereo and he doesn't car about subs right now.

As good as those Kappas are they are 2 Ohm which makes them a risk for the 4 Ohm BASE system. Many people have reported great success with the Kappas. In fact for a non-amped base system they seem to be the go-to set.

Why not just the three way rears for a couple extra bucks though?

I also have the 693.7's in the rear... Thanks jedi haha.. Although I have them hooked up to a kicker 4ch... let me tell ya.. THEY WILL SCREAM! and as jedi said.. no problems gettin them to fit.

i ordered the 6810 and and 9612 for shipped price of 166. that has got to be a bargain. to savedsol yes i was so cheap i saved 10$ and did not get the 3 ways. they are 92 db eff and should privde quite a spark to me system. just adding the mp3 player from audiolinq made the system sound better. i hope the install goes well. i am not going to add the baffles as i was thinking after reading the reviews at crutchfield.

now how do i find the guy that builds the custom boxes i c in jedi's ride.... and what is a good multichannel to drive it all.

I am using a Kicker KX850.4 for the Kappa Perfect Components and the 693.7 6x9's and they are insane...

I dont understand a lot of this audio stuff (though I would like to since I hate the Bose system), but I do know that my old car had an Infiniti system and it was awesome. Interested to see where this goes and if I can install it in my own

Xoq 04-11-2007 11:52 AM

my speakers come in today. i will have them installed within hours. i have been looking at amps LOC's sub's etc...

the infinity basslink2 looks like a POS so if i go for a quick solution i will put in a bazooka 10 inch. this assumes that i am happy with the head unit driving the infinities. i have looked at building an enclosure for a square kicker 8 in in the passthrough. would use the alpine mon amp for that idea. the 4080 enclosure looks like a great peice of equipment but if i do that i will get a four channel and bridge onto a JL audio sub. leaving the rear speakers non amp'd.

The LOC is problimatic on a non bose system becasue i do not have front speaker wires in the trunk like the bose. so i would likely put a 4 channel LOC behind the HU. then run the signals to the amp in the trunk and run front speaker wires back to the front.

ack....

the real question is if the non amp'd speakers are up to par. i just picked up some dynamat and UPS will be here @ about 3:00 pm CDT.

does anyone know if the LOC's built into the bazooka for alpine amps are better than the problematic infinity ones or am i going to need the LOC anyway? people have also said the base HU applies an EQ curve to keep the speakers from blowing (assume low bass). i really really do n ot want to get a signal processor as this would complicate and drive price up.

either way i only want a single amp in the car mono sub or four channel in 3 channel mode.

ok done, but i have one question. the tweeter and woofer of the stock stereo both have seperate wires. i cut the tweeter wire and wrapped it up neatly. i drive the x-over with the wires orginally left for the woofer. the x-over drives both speakers of course.

can someone explain this to me. are they wired in series or parallel from the factory? do the tweeter and woofer have independant power?
