Immobilizer System Flashes
I noticed for the very first time today, after a year of ownership, the security indicator light (car with key, see page 3-22 of the owner's manual) flashing while I was outside the car, with no key in the ignition, doors closed. Should it have been flashing the entire last year under those conditions? I'm not totally brain dead, so I would have noticed it sooner. I did have the recall work done about three weeks ago.
Unrelated, for about the first ten months, my remote had a really crappy range of about 10 feet, even after changing the battery. About 2 months ago, the range increased to about 50+ feet. Is my car growing up? Healing itself? Someone switch cars with me? |

Went into my darkened garage many times and never saw it. Can't wait for the extra 50 horsepower to show up one day.

Interesting, I can't say I've seen mine flash one way or the other.
I DO know from personal experience that if you see the security light flash with the key in the ON position then the immobilizer is armed. I had a PCM malfunction where my key programming was lost. The car just laughed at me when I would turn the key. |
