How to deactivate the seat belt bip (alarm)

Hi guys,

I was wondering if somebody knows how to deactivate the annoying beep of the safety belt, while not fasten.
I would know how to activate or disactivate this security function, rather than waiting 2 noisy minutes of beeping.

I searched on the forum, but couldn't find any answer.

Thanks.
:)

search again, there was a revived thread on this the other day
but I believe the consensus was "Just wear your damn seatbelt"
so... just wear your damn seatbelt

thanks for the answer.
I did find the thread ôn this topic.
I do also understand that having the seatbelt fasten is better.

I only would like to HAVE THE CHOICE to activate or disactivate the alarm.

Well, ask your dealer than, maybe they'll be nice enough to share some information

what year do u have cuz in my 05 i don thave that problem it doesnt beep at all i just get the light

My 05 rx8 doesnt ding. But if it's like the Mazda 3 then you turn the key to the on position, wait 4 seconds, buckle the seatbelt and wait a couple seconds then unbuckle it and start the car.

This will deactivate it until you turn the car off then on again. If you want it always off you have to have the dealer reprogram the computer.

must be a euro thing, mine doesnt beep

have you looked through the wiring manual? it will have the answer in it somewhere

Did you find the thread where I suggested to get a spare buckle and plug it in? Then you would have your choice of the real buckle on the seatbelt or the fake buckle - either will satisfy the alarm.

Did anyone ever find an answer to this? I've no intention of driving anywhere without a seatbelt on, but I like to warm the car up in the morning which involves starting it before making myself at home. Right now that's accompanied by a little chorus of dings...

If you keep your belt on, it wont ding. If you take it off and drive under 10mph, it wont ding. If you take it of, while going over 10mph...just put it back on.

Ask your dealer to disable it. They charged me $40 for my '06 but it was worth it. Gets annoying if your just driving around a parking lot or move the car a bit for instance.

dynamho 12-27-2006 12:59 PM

Do you think the dealer diagnostic computer can be used to raise the limit from 10mph to 15mph before it dings?

cjkim 12-27-2006 01:15 PM

i don't understand. is a seat belt that inconvenient? :Freak_ani

dynamho 12-27-2006 01:38 PM

Absolutely! It is an inconvenience.

From a usability standpoint, I believe it's a tradeoff between the possible loss of life somewhere in the future and the immediate inconvenience. For most people, immediacy is king. It took many years and many more dollars (including legislation and its enforcement) before the masses got educated about its use in sufficient quantities to offset this immediate inconvenience.

I'm far from discouraging seatbelt use. I'm merely saying that the 10+ mph "ding" can be quite annoying and patronizing in some circumstances.

On a similar note.....

Does anyone know how to disable the TPMS light? I hate how it turns on when my tire pressure gets low!!

oh, and is there anyway i can remove my oil pressure gauge? I find it distracting when i drive, especially when the light turns on.

Just do a search. I know there is a thread on in. I found it when I was considering the Mazdaspeed wheels.

Yeah, I think expo1 has the definitive fix for non-TPMS rims.
