1. I know that the 2004 and 2005 Nav systems are different from the 2006 nav systems.
2. The DVD's are not regular dvd's they are DVD-RAM disc, but most quality burners will burn in this format.
3. The Player is made by pioneer but the software is made by Navteq.

I have been meaning to try and backup my 2004 disc but have been lazy. I think i'll try to work on it this week. If i can copy that then hopefully i can make a backup of a more recent disc. It sucks that my brothers house is not on the disc.

I have an 04 and I cant find my own house! That sux. I am looking for an updated dvd. Oh and by the way you dont need RAM discs just DL or duel layer discs.

The format they use is proprietary, so unless you can convince navteq to send you one of their DVD recorders, its not possible.

Did you look at the link... it is posible using a form of ISO copy. Basicly no matter what the format is, it takes a copy of the DVD and replicates it. I have done it already it works fine. I just happen to have the oldest map DVD known to man kind.

As do I. We seem to be in the same boat.

Type in LA and I bet it suggests Route 66.

2002

I know that the 2002 is slightly larger in ISO format than a DVD-R, so it probably does have to be DVD-RAM. I got a ISO from a friend here, and Nero says it's too big...

Requires a Double Layer disc to fit.
