Hideaway License Plate

Greetings RX8Club,
I'm one for toys and gadgets and I am now looking for a solution to have a retractable license plate system for the back of the car. It would be great for shows to hide to the plate. Does anyone have one, what systems are out there?

Hideaway License Plate, Hide-Away License Plate, Retractable License Plate, Hide License Plate...

I've seen one that is basically a clear cover for the plate that turns solid grey when power is turned on via a switch in the cabin.

Here's one, doesn't quite fit 8:

That's more of a swinging version, swings up under the bumper. I've seen them on hot rods where the plate hangs off the bottom of the bumper.

Best way for us would be to make cut in the bumper over where the plate is now, and have the plate ride a track on cams. The trick would be the clearence, not having my 8 with me right now, I can't tell you if thre's enough room.

I'm pretty sure it could be done. Between my wife and I, we could build one. I'm pretty sure she'd say no to installing it though.

This application would also be grat for highspeed pursuits and bank robberies.

I think I figured out my client base for my new product. ROFL

***edit, I hate this split keyboard, damn typos***

I'd love to find out more about this one. Not only is it a cool gadget (hey, watch this!) but it might also be useful for areas that use photoradar.... :D
