Hidden bolt?

So where the hell is that hidden bolt to take out the radio? I got an ipod kit comming in.. and i tried lookin for the bolt, didn't see anything. I'm not the most flexible person in the world, and i'm limited on tools since i live in the barracks... Is there anyone in the DC area that would help me out one day with this once the kit comes in?

The circle with my finger behind it is where the bolt goes. To get there you need to remove the drivers side knee panel and the steel panel behind it. Then get a bunch of extensions.

I'd be willing to help you out.. anything to save a fellow 8er some skinned knuckles. I spent about three hours last weekend installing an Audiolink ipod adapter in my car (only to find out I got a defective unit and I have to do it all over again :banghead:)

Once you know the tricks you can get everything out and back in within 30 minutes tops... wish I knew the tricks to start with

PM me if you want some help.

i had to do this reciently as well but you can see the bolt mine was copperish in color and i could see it if i let light shine from the underside to the front and looked through the steering wheel colum and a screw hole toward the front. those pictures all show bolts but they are too far back. the actual location is more forward and up then those. i used a 10" extension w/ the ratchet end coming through the steering wheel column hole

I wound up using a 4" extension coupled to a 4" flexible neck. By working it back in there I was able to loosen it up enough to get it off by hand... fitting my 6'1 frame and big ass hands in there was another story entirely.

Word of advice: The bolts you should NOT undo are 12mm, the one you are after is 10mm! I found this out the hard way :uhh:

I'll be taking photographs of the entire removal process next time I do it since all the HU removal DIYs I've found are somewhat lacking IMO

its at a very tough angle to see. u kinda just have to feel for it. I suggest putting some sticky tak in the socket cuz u WILL drop the bolt. you'll need an extension as well.

rip my 10mm socket that went behind the rug never to be seen again while trying to get this freaking bolt out the first time around :banghead: :banghead: :icon_no2: :icon_no2: :squint:
