Here are trunk dimensions for subwoofer box design
Hey guys.. Well I have been designing my own speakerbox to fit in the 8 so I thought I would share my findings and hope that it will help you guys out too.
I am hosting the images with www.tinypic.com so i'm not sure how long they will work I created these images and my box with AutoCAD 2006. If you want different / better images or want me to build your idea you can contact me by e-mail to spamfloodgate@hotmail.com. I will also send you what I have done if you want to mess with it on your own computer Most of the dimensions are they best I could do with a tape measure around what I already have in there and with all the carpet and stuff still in it. so here we go. The first pic is the trunk from a front view (standing outside looking in) (also that bar is about as low as the bottom of the 6X9s so i did not add it http://i1.tinypic.com/xlgdol.jpg The second picture is a side view as if you were standing on the driver side looking through the side http://i2.tinypic.com/xlgdid.jpg This pic is a angled view of the box I have built for an Alpine Type X 12" and 1000 Watt RMS alpine mono amp and a 1.5 cap. The airspace inside is about 1.5 Cubic feet (i think) let me know what you think. http://i2.tinypic.com/xlgd9f.jpg If you guys have any ideas or suggestions let me know!! EDIT -- I have made the images as small as possible without serious distortion.. sorry guys its the best i can do -- email me for better or full size (1920x1200) pics |
very cool!
keep us updated |
auto cad is one thing but you need to build it to see if it fits into the trunk and what it looks like. i will keep watch on this thread,

I got some time before i need the box anyways.. I'm planning a trip to NY in august and then starting school. so spending 8 or 9 hundred on a new amp and speaker plus whatever for the box supplies is a little outta my reach right now. but i'll keep playing with it and keep posting. Maybe I'll come up with the new universal perfect box that any 8 owners can just go to this thread print it off and go build it. thats my goal. |
Well after further review... that first box design with the slanty part off the back and built with 3/4 inch wood would give me about 1.1 cu/ft of airspace; which is surprisingly close to the crutchfield recommended .9 cu/ft. And from front to back it's only 10.5 inches which means it will fit into the opening of the trunk. I will have a cad drawing posted soon.

Thanks WikkedOne for the measurements! I guess the back is only 30 inches. No way the BasslinkT will fit. Im just going with the first basslink, it got awesome reviews.

Did you ever build this? I need to build a 4 cu ft ported box for 2 12 inch subs inside my trunk. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks! Chris |
I know it's a very long shot but really need the files or any other similar measurements.
