Help removing stock radio
I followed this guide to try and get the thing out but I can't seem to get it. I removed all the screws and the bottom half seems to pop out just fine, but I can't get the top half to. I can't seem to get enough leverage up there to move it.
I'm scared that if I pull any harder on the bottom that it will snap off and trying to pry at the top seems like the finish will chip or break off. Any suggestions? |
You'll be nervous doing it at first because you feel like you're about to break the faceplate in half.
Just grab it from underneath and rock it hard... it'll eventually come out. |
^....assuming he has all the screws out!
Where is that magical hidden one again? |
^Very true.... I was assuming that bolt was removed since he followed that guide... but you never know.

Well I got the thing out. Herd a loud snap and thought "Oooh man, I broke it!" But luckily nothing was damaged. However I'd find pleasure in hurting whoever designed those A/C control harnesses. I've defiantly spent the last half hour trying to get those out. Still have the middle one to remove...
Thanks for the suggestion of using more brute force! Wasn't too sure I was doing it right. |

Well, I hope he looked at step 4! Funny thing is I can get my daughters out of her 3 in less than one minute from start to finish will all connectors off. Never had to do my 8 yet! :sweatdrop |
Well that was an ordeal. I could defiantly do it quicker next time now that I know what to expect, but holy hell that A/C harness is a bitch.
My half-hour job installing a direct FM connection for my Sirius turned into 2 hours of cursing, 50 minutes of fiddling with harnesses and being careful (still managed ding the bottom of the faceplate on the shifter), and 10 minutes of actual work. Woo! I can now say "bye-bye" to static. Thanks for the help guys. |
