Help :)
I have a 2007, of course my warrenty just ran up about 1000 miles ago. For some reason whenever I press the cd button on my cd player it doesnt want too switch it,:banghead: my radio is the only that that works. Have you heard anything about this before? I dont want too pay mazda 70.00 just too have them look at it, if its just a cable that came loose or something. Thanks for the help

Yes. It has happened to me Twice. And most likely you have a 6-disc player so , heres what happened. Your CD changer got stuck somehow and just makes some kind of noise like its loading the CD but never loads or plays. COrrect? Since you are out of warranty I suggest you get the METRA KIT now ($150) and put in a new radio. Thats what Im doing this whole weekend (today) along with subwoofers. If you were still underwarranty....Like I was before, The dealership would have took out your CD changer unit and had have to mail it to JAPAN (no joke) where once they recieve the CD changer will send a new one to the Dealership to install. Your old CD changer that was sent to JAPAN will have all the CD's you had in their. What they do is dissamble it and troubleshoot what went wrong. From their they take about 1-2 months to get your CD's back in the Mail from Japan. There are people on this Forum selling their Factory CD PLAYERs that you can switch with your non working one for around $50 for single disc and $100 for 6 disc. I still reccomend getting the metra kit ($150) and a new radio ($100-1000, regular Pioneer CD player to full DVD/Navigation player radio). Below is a picture of my metra kit before Install, and I Colormatched it to my car.

I wouldn't recommend the metra unless you want to spend upwards of $700. I'd just see if I could buy a new one on here or ebay. Or get a car2pc or aux input connector and live w/o cd's

Metra Single Din $150
Premeir CD Player (Higher Pioneer Radio)- $150 Installation $200 local car shop or Do It Yourself. I got tired of having to replacing my STOCK CD changer every year from the stupid dealer, SO I gave up and bought the metra kit. If you paypal me Money I can buy the metra kit and then Have it painted the color of your car...If you want. |
yes, that's 500 for a non stock HU... when you said you can get one for $100.... that makes no sense.

Definitely agree with Zumn, the metra kit and a decent MP3/CD player would be what I'd do in your situation. Search Crutchfield coupon on the forums, they had a $20 or so discount code posted on the Metra kit recently and I'm not sure if it has expired. Btw, you'll notice quite a difference (in a good way) by simply swapping out the head unit.
GL on your project Zumn |

$50-100 u can buy someone else STOCK HU on here. So how did that make no sense? 8ROCKS: Im finishing my project this weekend. Thanks. |
^ I think what OP is trying to say is that it doesn't make sense (to him) to buy the metra and aftermarket HU for $300 to $500 installed when he can pick up the stock HU for $100 or less.
If $s are the issue, it makes sense, but if my stock HU ever crapped out on me, I would go the Metra route! |
^agree.

Two things come into play IMO:
#1 Money. How much are you willing to invest? #2 The stock appearance. Many people love the stock headunit and HATE the look of the Metra kit If you don't have much money or like the stock headunit, yeah, obviously buy another one or have it replaced under warranty. If you have $400 to upgrade, then by all means, do it. A $250 Pioneer headunit is going to DOMINATE the factory headunit in every way possible. |
