Headunit recommendations

Gentlemen,

Im wanting to buy a headunit. Touch screen with built in GPS, something i can connect with my Iphone, possibly watch some movies on via the phone or DVD. I have no clue about new stereos and would appreciate some recommendations. Im not planning on doing any upgrades elsewhere. I know ill need the Metra kit and additional equipment to retain steering wheel controls. Anything under $600 would be great.

thanks in advance

This is my suggestion.
I have the 930bt(the older version), and I love it.

yeah, all signs point to that one...did you do the parking brake over ride? what about the ipod cable? would you have to leave it connected in the rear and run it to the cup holders?

thanks

The Pioneer is about all you're going to find under $600.

I used to be a big proponent of the Pioneer. But since they moved to a Windows based software (everything after the D3), they've been a little flaky. They're slower than isht on start-up and laggy all around. I've also had two come into my shop with freezing/start-up problems which required me to do a complete wipe and OS reload to correct (thank you avic411). Close friend of mine has the F90BT and he's had to reload his 3-4 times since his ownership. Pioneer has always made, and still does make, a solid single-din headunit. But I haven't been a fan of their newer high-end stuff. I like Alpine, but I've installed several IVE-W535HD's and they're not super responsive either. If I was in the market to buy one now, I really think I'd have to play with a few before making a decision. Haven't really messed with the Kenwood's much. I'd like to see how they do...

In all honesty, I think I'd just buy the DVD indash without the navi. My cell phone is quicker on the draw, more up to date and gives real-time traffic updates. Without the navi, you spend half as much and get a snappier headunit. Try them out in store and see for yourself.

I have not done the parking brake mod. I have my ipod cable ran through my glove box. I never use it though, I just connect my iphone via bluetooth.
