Head Unit Firmware Upgrade Cost

Hi All,

I am currently in the process of purchasing an RX-8. One thing I really want is iPod integration. I have been looking at the various options and think the adapters which use the CD changer port seem like the best solution.

Since all of the these require Headunit firmware .95 or higher to work correctly its something I will check for when test driving the prospective RX-8's.

If I find an older version whats the process in getting it upgraded? I have done a bit of Googleing and as far as I can tell the only solution in the UK to get an upgrade would involve a Mazda dealer. Has anyone else in the UK got their firmware upgraded and what did it cost?

I know this is worrying about a problem that does not exist yet. But if I want iPod integration its something to think about. The cost is also one of the potential things to factor in when haggling the over price !!!

Thanks

Charlie M

It could possibly be cheaper to buy a used headunit off of here and swap out. Just a thought.

Not to Worry

Not to worry, when I tried it at the end of my test drive it read 9.55. Which from what I have read is about perfect for getting the iPod adapters to work.

Anyway I an now the proud owner of that RX8. So far so, its a really great car.

Thanks for the suggestion any way.

Which is fine if your in the US and don't mind having no head unit for a while.

I was wondering asking if any one had any experience getting the upgrade done in the UK (where I am).

Doesn't really matter now (for me at least) since my RX8 has the correct version firmware.
