Has anyone done this?

I am wanting to leather wrap my dash, doors and center console.

Has anyone ever done this or have any ideas on how to do it?

I wonder how much this will cost. The 8 deserves a luxury interior. Too bad Mazda failed in that category.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Thanks!

Katzkin may have a kit for the RX8.

Thanks, I sent them an email!

Their stuff is pretty well regarded. I was thinking about getting one of their leather interiors for my old Jeep.

I would love to completely gut the interior and dynamat everything then add plush carpet, high end leather and real carbon fiber everywhere.

I for sure need to win the lottery.

I'm not offended by the leather on the seats, but changing the door panels would be nice.

Replacing the plastic trim with CF would be nice, although I think I'd want aluminum.

I like aluminum as well. Maybe even better The seats are fine except the black outside. It looks like plastic. The red inserts are ok. The door panels are a joke haha.

I'm also looking into this. Check out JPM Coachworks, they do nice stuff I hear and look good. I'm in Oregon though, they're out near Atlanta. I dunno if I want to ship all my interior pieces out... especially if I can't see the material going on first.

- Way more than you can imagine unless you have a friend in the industry, otherwise a half ass job would look horrible.

- I totally agree. Of course in order to make it so you would need to include recovering all seats and rear panels as well. Or leather is not exactly "top quality".

- I don't think they failed at all. It's not exactly a hand crafted exotic car, of which you fine all of those hand stitched leather interiors. Would you have wanted to pay 3-4K more for the car? (just a rough number)

^ Mostly true. I sent JDM Coachworks pictures of the interior from different angles highlighting what I'd want covered to get an idea. For the whole dash, center console, doors (not just the strip in the middle) and back cubby door it'd be roughly $2500, add a bit more depending on materials and stitching. That's not cheap, but it is honestly less than I expected.

I have a Shinka, leather on the seats are quite nice actually. Honestly have spent very little time in a non-Shinka, but based off photos and the little I've seen I agree. Without doing the seats also, wouldn't match, though a Shinka would probably be fine.

Totally agree. I LOVE the RX8 interior for the price. The piano black makes it look much higher class than it is, the plastic isn't bad and the LED and dash lighting is well done. Waaaay nicer than a 350.

Yea I have to say I don't like the center console side plates color/finish which is why myself and altspace both used CF wrap on it.

One thing I wonder is what material did they use to cover the entire dash of 007's Vanquish in Casino Royal? I don't think its leather but it would be something IMO That would look good to wrap up ours in for those who want a better look with the time and money.

Lol, not sure why I couldn't find it before but just tried again and found it in a few hits: Alcantara is the material.

Here's a guy who had his Lotus done in it, looks sharp IMO. If I had the time and materials I'd do it or if the money someone else.

It is JPM Coachworks not JDM, just a heads up for somebody interested in them. If you ask them to send you swatches of the material you are interested in they will send you a snip-it of that material. I had them do my center console for my Solstice cause they are one of the vendors that supports the car. The snip-it will be about 3"x3", they sent me the 3 different black colors of Alcantara they use.

Heres a picture of my console by them.

I would highly recommend their work and its not as much as you would think. Their price for my console was 145. My Solstice has a huge following for the Silhouette of the car, I have it on both side of the console near each persons inner leg. They can do a core charge if you would like also if they can come by pieces that you want new, you just need to send your part back in. Bigger pieces they do require you to bring by the shop.

They do come out to the Mod meets that the Solstice/Sky members hold through out the US.

^Thanks for the correction lol. Dunno why I typed that wrong. Also, thanks for the pics/review of their work; like the other pics I've seen of their stuff, looks good.
