GTA Car Kit for Mazda RX8 integrate your iPod, iPhone, AUX
 

Hey guys, so I'm finally looking into getting an iPhone/ aux into my car so i don't have to rely on CDs anymore or an FM tuner. i found this video installation on youtube, and it looks like they just added RX8 to their products on June 9th. It looks pretty cool what do you guys think?

I think it's exactly the same as the 40 other AUX options we've had for the RX8 for years.

Which one do you think is the best? I'm also wondering what is the best way to re route the wires? Because in this video the guy says to do it through the glove box. But I don't want to keep the glovebox open while I use it everytime.

I have the grom and the box sitting behind the ashtray, then the wire runs underneath the ashtray, around my shifter and out the little cutout in the cupholder. I put the cap back on the cutout with the wire running through it and then snaked it immeaditely to the right and under the silver trim of the center buffet. Then i made my own custom cellphone mount that attached to the side of the ashtray and have the auxport snake behind the cellphone holder and plugs into my phone all nice like :) Oh and i have the power for the phone from the port in the center buffet also snaked behind the silver trim.

this was my prototype and i have since made one that is alot cleaner and i sprayed it with plasti-dip to add some non sliding protection (even though it doesnt need it)

To be honest, they're all about the same. Keep in mind that the actual iPod connection gives you some advantages a regular 3.5mm headphone input will not. For example steering wheel controls, headunit controls, charging the iPod/Phone, relaying any song information, etc.

I used the XCarLink years ago and it always served me well. And it's got a bluetooth option, so my vote is for that. Don't think is displays song titles on the amber display, just track numbers. But I really don't mind that. DICE claims theirs does display song titles, but pretty sure it doesn't work with the iPhone, just iPod.

From what I've seen, the GTA kit is about the cheapest method without using FM that I've found. I've never been a fan of FM anyway as it is terrible sound quality with a ton of interference and feedback thrown in.

GROM just dropped their price to $75, cheapest I've seen now.

I done this the other day and so far no problems. I spliced into the XM radio harness on mine and has no distortion. If your looking at the back of the radio were the 16 pin connector is I just taped into the bottom row witch I believe the wires are white, gray and purple. Left, right and ground signal. From left to right bottom row it will be the second wire, third wire and fourth wire

I tried installing a GTA Ipod/aux harness into the head unit earlier today. When i went to test it i had lost the display and controls for the radio like mentioned above. I tried starting the car to see if the display would come on for any random reason, and nothing. I let it sit for a few hours while at work and when i started messing with it again I realized I had never disconnected the battery before pulling the head unit. Thats where I knew I screwed up, so i tried starting the car and now I have power to accessories with the first key turn but it wont turn over or even attempt to start. I think it might be the ignition fuse under the hood but i cant seem to pull it out to inspect it. If anyone could shine some light on this issue id appreciate it.

can anyone give instructions on how to do this on an automatic rx8?
