Greddy turbo timer review
 

I just installed the greddy turbo timer and here's my review:

I am not really happy with it and wouldn't recommend it to others. I haven't tried any other brands, but a friend of myne has the apexi and I'm going to try to check his out. The controls on it are extremely difficult to use and don't work very well. To change modes you need to press all three of its buttons, power, select and time, at once. Then you have to release select then power then time, and it must be in that order. If you release power first or last it will turn the unit off. Even when you get the order correct, it just doesn't change the mode sometimes. It ends up taking me about 3 minutes to cycle through all the modes, something that should take 3 seconds. They need to either add a dedicated mode button, or else change the existing scheme to make it more tolerant.

Then then documentation on it totally blows, I am really dissapointed with how bad the manual is. It gives very little info about the unit or how it operates.

I have not yet confirmed yet how the auto-timer works since it doesn't say in the manual, but I suspect it starts a count as soon as your rpms exceed a preset amount and continues counting up until the car is turned off. It then keeps it runnig for the time period that the count reached. So after driving for awhile, even though I had been puttering around, the turbo timer still kept my car running for 4.3 minutes when it should have only idled for around 30 seconds. You can of course always just preset in a time, but I liked the idea of having an auto timer that would correctly determine how long the car needs to idle based up on my driving. I don't know if all brands work that way, maybe they do.

the auto timer wire usually goes into the rpm signal wire or the ground wire depending on the model tt at the ecu. Thanks for the review I was thinking about changing my apexi out but may look somewhere else :)

I have the GReddy TT, but have never felt a need to use any of its additional features. I just set the timer, and let it run. I do agree that the directions were horrible, and the method at which you flip through the extra features is pretty bad as well.

Sorry to revive a 2 year old dead thread but I'd rather do this then open a new one.

I did a search and didn't come up with much. I have 2 questions.

1) can you use the keyless to lock the car down as without the timer?

2) has anyone installed the timer on a upgraded keyless such as my 06 where I do not use a key but rather a chip to start the car. Also I can use the buttons built in on my door handle to lock and unlock. Would this feature be disabled?
