getting 6 dash mp3

yeah im planning on buying that in dash 6 cd changer mp3 from i think trussville or rosenthal after i install this would the text on the mp3s appear on my stock console display?

sorry if this is repost

robertdot 07-31-2004 06:37 PM

AFAIK, there is no 6 disc MP3 cd changer. There is an in-dash MP3/CD player and a 6 disc in-dash CD player. If I'm wrong, I will retract that statement.

o i get it its either one or the other...thanks man

6 cd player doesn't display any text.

mp3 player is single disk, but a single disk can hold more songs than 6 audio cd's.

considering the mp3 player is cheaper than the 6 disk, and it has more options, it's a no brainer.

takahashi 07-31-2004 07:55 PM

The only reason... oh well the main reason to get the MP3 player is I cannot use burn CD-R in the 6 disc.

I can use CD-R in the MP3 though. But still cannot read CD-RW at this stage. :o

Eh? The 6-disc changer can't play CD-R? I've had no problems at all using them in the non-MP3 single CD unit, I wonder why this is different? I just can't fathom a company in this day and age making a CD player that won't do this...its ludicrous.

I used cd-r's in my stock cd player as well as mp3 player, I too don't see why the 6 disk wouldn't be able to read them.

takahashi 08-01-2004 12:41 AM

How do you make your music CD... I have the one keep saying check CD. And the menu said you can only use normal CD with the compact disc logo.

I use Roxio and have no luck.

I download all my songs from a prepaid chinese site. It works well now with the MP3 player but certainly I was very disappointed it did not work in the 6 stack. I had 2 weeks without chinese songs!

Better ask Omicorn now... coz I sold it to him...!!

mysql101 08-01-2004 12:44 AM

This is going to sound dumb, but I have to ask: Are you burning your songs in audio format, or the actual file? If you're using windows, you should be able to just drag and drop your mp3's to your D:\ and tell it to burn the audio files (red book) and not the actual mp3 file as data.

takahashi 08-01-2004 12:52 AM

....... I don't understand that bit.. I found drag and drop sometiimes does not work in mp3 files.

I use the Roxio to either make it as a data disc or a MP3 file disc. They both work fine as long as the session / disc is finalized.

As for audio music, I use Roxio to make music playable to normal cd player but the 6 stack did not work. Never tried on the MP3 player

This functionality that I speak of should be standard with all versions of winxp.

I have the 6 disc, no problem so far with CD-R or RWs.

I used burned cd's in my 6 disk player.

Hey takahashi -
I had no problems using burned cd's in my 6 in-dash cd changer.
I also used Roxio to create the cd's. I am using Roxio Easy CD Creator Version 5.2.0.63

here's the steps I took.

1) Open Roxio Easy CD Creator
2) Click 'File' then 'New CD Project', then 'Music CD'.
At this point, you should now have a split screen in Roxio. The top half is a list of folders on your pc, the bottom show the music that you add to your new cd.

3) In the top half, select the folder that contains the music you want to add.
4) Single Click on the song you want, and click the 'Add' button located between the split screens.
Roxio will convert the mp3 file to an audio file, and the bottom of the window will show you how many minutes of music you have added, and how many are left.

5) After all the songs are added, click on the 'Record' button. (Notice, the record button is greyed out until you add the first track, then it turns red).
After you click 'Record', you get a 'Record CD Setup' window. Here's were you select you settings. (i.e. Write speed, # of copies, CD drive, Record method)

6) Make sure you have a blank cd in your burner, and that the CD-R drive selected is the correct one.
7) Choose your 'Write Speed'. I recommend 32x
8) Choose your 'Record Method'. I recommend 'Disc-At-Once'

Once you have all your settings, just click on the top right button 'Start Recording'.

Now sit back, wait til it's done. Once it's finished burning, you will have an 'OK' button available to press. Click 'OK'. Eject the CD, and enjoy.

Also, I recommended 32x and Disc-At-Once because these settings always work for me. You can try others, as I'm sure there are many combinations of these settings that also work.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Cesar

As I said it ain't matter anymore as I have changed to a MP3 but I think my problem was not to select Disc-at-once to finalise the disc.
Same as when I just drag and drop the MP3 file and let the disc open and not to finalised the disc so you cannot write to the empty area again. ... hmm I think this is the source of the problem.

jowettw 08-05-2004 07:07 PM

try using a different brand of CD. or burning slower.

bobclevenger 08-09-2004 02:42 PM

You are correct, Takahashi. CD-Rs MUST be finalized to play in a normal audio CD player.
