Gauges on a Car PC Setup

Just thought I would post a pic of my gauge cluster I created using Palmer Performance Dash Command. If you have a car pc, i HIGHLY recommend this product...its only $24.95 and you can create any combination of gauges!

If you are looking for a boost gauge, you will need to buy the more expensive version called PCMSCAN that uses scripts to give your boost output.

If anyone wants the dash file, let me know and I will email it to you!

Sweet. Where do I get it and what packages does it work with and how?

alz0rz 06-29-2008 11:03 PM

wow.. i've been looking up and down to an alternative for hymee's scanalyzer for my CarPC.. more info PLEASE!

I'm betting this requires some sort of ELM device to interface with the OBDII?

alz0rz 06-29-2008 11:05 PM

Ay I guess I got it right..

Wow, 5 PM's in just 10 minutes asking for this gauge file! :)

Yeah, its palmerperformance.com and in my opinion my cluster is more true to the RX-8 than Hymees...not bashing it.. I just like mine better. I am running a Car PC with an ELM327 Bluetooth device.

The refresh rates are pretty good, enough for the speedometer that I always wanted...but not good enough for the tach =)

Let me know if you need any help customizing this.. it took me about a week to figure out how to build the skin, but its pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I have posted the skin on the Palmer site or I will email it to you if you want.

See ya!
Frank

What ELm327 device are you using? Surely not one of the eBay ones?

is there a particular advantage to using the bluetooth OBDII scanner over a wired one (besides avoiding wiring)? do you think that a wired one would have faster refresh rates? just checking since the previously posted link said the software would work with any OBDII scanner...

eastcoastrotary 06-30-2008 06:48 AM

also, what front end do you use on your car pc and how have you integrated the gauge program with it?

flyboyindy 06-30-2008 07:07 AM

Im sure there is an advantage of having a hardwired system, I know that the refresh rate isnt great, but it works for me. I also made a night skin as well....

I use Centrafuse. Currently I just use it as an "application" and created a button to use it. Its a bit bulky, so I am going to take a stab at creating a plugin for it. Will keep you updated... :yesnod:

eastcoastrotary 06-30-2008 10:01 AM

good deal. i'm trying to put together a carputer and am planning on going with roadrunner, but will use centrafuse as a backup if i can't figure RR out. I was also going to do a hardwired OBDII scanner. doesn't centrafuse have a built-in OBDII data application? it's probably not skinnable and isn't as slick though...your skins look very good, by the way. I would use them exactly if I go with this program for OBDII. Thanks for posting them

eastcoastrotary 06-30-2008 10:02 AM

also, what do you mean by "bulky?"

flyboyindy 06-30-2008 10:11 AM

by bulky i mean, its just too hard to go in and out of the program, like 4 button depresses.... i want to be able to just click one button. Im not really a programmer, but I am a quick learner... anyone who has any skills at this... Would love to hear from you!

As far as Centrafuses ODBII program, it blows.... I do love the ability to clear and read codes, but other than that... I really want the whole gauge package... There is a Centrafuse gauge plug in, but you just cant do the same things with it like on Dash Command.

I want someone to get in the car and think that Mazda created this shit... =)

flyboyindy 07-02-2008 11:08 PM

Added a little "blue" to the gauges... getting closer and closer :)

Almost done integrating mine. Obviously I'm going for the Nissan GTR look. :) Seamlessly went into Centrafuse with DashCommand.

I was playing back a log where I didn't log the catalyst temp so ignore that one for now.
