EX1 turns off after 25 seconds????

Hey, I did a search and found nothing on this problem. I have a PIE adaptor and a 40gb Ipod connected directly to the back of the radio through cd changer port. I have had this setup for about 5 months no problems. Tonight out of left feild the EX1 turns off all on its own. So I'm thinking its a problem with the PIE adaptor. I then turn off my Ipod, turn off the car, twice, and then tried it again and still had a problem. So I turn off the Ipod and leave the EX1 on the stock display screen. Sure enough, after 25 seconds the EX1 turned off without any assistance.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or has anyone experienced the same problems?

Thanks

What firmware version on the HU are you running?

I forget what the exact version numbers are but I have the most updated firmware available. I know this because I recieved the upgrade from Mazda 1 year after I purchased the car. Plus I've had this PIE unit working for the past 5 months. I know that the PIE won't work without the newest firmware, unless I'm wrong. I called up PIE and they told me they never heard of this problem. They advised me to disconnect the battery and reset everything to see if that worked. I'll let you know if a little while. If not, then the radio needs to go back to Mazda. Just to let you know, PIE explained that their units are made with warranties in mind. This unit does not void your warranty unless you had to cut wires.

most likely the cable going from the PIE unit into the back of the HU is loose...this has happened so many times now since getting the cable in is a bear!

there is no way to plug that cable in without entirely removing the HU and plugging it in...most of the problems occur when people try to plug in the pie to the back of the HU by just pulling the HU out a couple inches...that may work for a while but eventually vibrations will cause it to come out

just remember to disconnect your battery when you check it

good luck!

Had this exact same problem with my XM unit and the PIE. I ended up having to send the PIE unit back to the manufacturer and they replaced a cable. It could be a loose connection as others have said but I know in my case it did require the replacement of a cable.

Amazingly enough, to my surprise, a simple resetting of the battery by disconnecting it worked out the problem. The Ipod and EX1 are working perfectly... so far anyway. I'll keep you posted if anything changes. Thanks for the help.
