El Wire

Yes, I searched.. for El wire and for electroluminescent wire.. got nothing some I'm starting a new thread.

I'm thinking of embracing just a bit of my inner ricer and running a line of EL wire through the center console. Keeping it tucked into the edge of the center tunnel running straight back to front. Putting in a resistor to keep it from being too bright.

The more I think about it the more ricey it sounds but I know me... I know that it's in my head and I'm afraid I'll wake up one day and have blue wire runs throughout my baby..... :spank:

In all seriousness, does anyone have a recommendation for a trustworthy supplier?

PS The beauty of this idea is that if I find I really dont like it, I can just turn it off.

for those of those who don't know - El Wire is spanish for - "the wire"

yeah it might be neat, waaaayy to ricey for my tastes, i think just some nice blue footwell LEDs and some strategically placed paint/accents are about as far out there as any grown up should go.

just for ur knowledge...ive used el wire for stuff on friends cars and stuff. and is very difficult to work with. to keep it straight and not wavey, ur gonna need to let it stay extended for a few days and use some stiff something to keep the length of it tight....

Ivory8,

Yeah.. I've been reading up on it and it sounds like it takes a lot of prep work and patience.

I was planning on tensioning it for a few days on a jig to set it bone straight and then using some clear silicon to adhere it

yeah that sounds good. just dont get excited and jump the gun thinking...ahhh the glue will hold it, because it will hold it into place but it may be buckled and nasty...just be patient
