Do we have remote start fixed?
 

Alright, well I'm starting to just mod my car for "cool" factor, and I am never going to smoke so I would love to buy the remote start button and put it where the cig lighter is however I was reading a thread I found during search that you must still put the key in and turn the car to the on position? Has there been anyone to hardwire past this or how does this work? Also, how much and where to find one.

yeah, you could do it, but you'd have to bypass the imobilizer, thus you'd need essentially the setup of a wireless remote start system. The best/easiest way all around to do it would be to install a wireless remote start system, and run it through the start button, but disable the wireless start systems safety features (ie - touching the brake without the key, kills the engine)

Finally - WHY? why would you want to give anyone the ability to smash your window, hop in your car, and hit the button and drive off? Just curious! Bypassing the key, and imobilizer is like giving the keys to a thief in the first place.

could a similar strategy be taken to connect a turbo timer and still be able to lock the doors with the alarm set? Would not have to worry about stealing, turbo timer kills engine when emergency brake is released.
