Degraded Radio Signal w/Pioneer

I've searched endlessly and can't find what I'm looking for, but perhaps I'm overthinking the issue..

I have a Pioneer AppRadio 3 installed. Radio reception is horrible.

The vehicle antenna (big black wire) is connected to the back of the unit.

I have not connected the blue/white "antenna trigger wire" to anything.

In the installation manual, Pioneer specifically says:

"Blue/white wire
Connect to auto-antenna relay control terminal.
If the vehicle has a glass antenna, connect to the
antenna booster power control terminal (max. 300
mA 12 V DC)."

Of all the wiring diagrams I've come across for the 8, there is no antenna trigger wire to connect the blue/white wire to..

Does the antenna automatically power on when the car is on, or does it need to be triggered on, like an amplifier?

And if it needs to be triggered on/connected to the blue/white wire, then where in the hell is that damn wire!?

Going nuts here..

Thanks in advance!

No one? :/

Perhaps this should be in the troubleshooting forum?

If so, can a mod please move it?

Thanks
