He didn't get a mount, he bought a whole new ashtray and modified it.

A.Mair 01-01-2010 10:18 AM

oh i see, but do you know where he got it from?

Alexb 01-01-2010 10:58 AM

I believe he said mazmart.com

They have a new and used section of their site, check both.

I just ordered something from them last week, got here quickly and was exactly perfect, no scratches or anything.

Ya, if you really want to get into it, there was a guy a few months back who made his own gauge pod that goes there with fiberglass then finished it with bondo and textured it real nice, anyway, he didn't have to buy another ashtray assembly, and got exactly what he wanted, might look into doing something like that.

But it requires a bit of time.

I actually mounted my Sirius radio in my glove box

Well the edit button kinda screwed my post, so lets see how much I remember.

I think the other guy bought a new ashtray and cut a hole for the receiver. I did the same thing.

Just get a rotary tool (Dremel) and cut and sand a hole in the lid for the receiver. There are a few DIY's around that show you how to remove the ashtray. Remove the cigarette lighter from the ashtray housing and set it in the back and use that as your power. Use the hole left by the lighter to feed your wires through for tidiness and such.

FYI, a new ashtray from the dealer is about $100. It really depends how much you trust your handy-work if you want to get a spare ashtray.

Another tip, you can place the antenna inside the car at the base of the back window and it will still work. I get full signal strength. Also, it helps hide that you have one in the car and you don't have to run any wires to the outside of the car.

Just PM Paul at Mazmart, they should have one, there are also a few part outs going on the for sale section. You could also PM getreddy2greddy.

I have the exact same radio and what I did was remove my ash tray and and take a dremel to get it to fit in there and then on the back side used velcro to hold it in place. Looks pretty flush i suppose, I'll post pics up as soon as possible.

EDIT:picture uploaded

I want to cut the center out of the cover that way it will cover the holes on the side and on the bottom just to make it blend better but havent got around to that yet.
