There is no climate control cable, therefore no button.....

sorry fella what do you mean, are we talking about RX8s?

there is a cable directly that attaches the climate control to the console, you need to take it out to remove stereo

you have confused me and i still need the answer

No cable.

You are probably pulling on the 'invisible bolt' - here's your picture.....

(Tip - don't put it back in when you're done!)

we have the bolt out, the head unit is forward the only thing left is the cable connected to the back of the climate control

other threads have talked about this cable

OK - you mean the 'big bunch of wires off the radio' cable!

The trick is to pull. Seems like you will pull too hard, but if you really wrench the head unit you'll get enough room to squeeze a small wrist in there and it's a simple 24 pin connector, with the release clip on the top.

sorry mate still don't get it.

This is the white connector which is directly behind the middle climate contol button at the bottom of the centre console.

its a 6 or 9 pin

I don't quite remember having any trouble with that one, the diagram just shows it as a normal 12-pin squeeze connector, with only 7 wires in it.....

i have read threads on several web sites with folks saying they have struggled to get this last cable out, just can't get details on it

getting desperate

its on the bottom of the connector. I used a really short phillips screwdriver into the approximate area, pushed in while i pulled at the wires. came right out. ive done it about 20 times while i try and figure out where this mystery loose connection everyone tells me about is

I found that if you pull pull the head unit too far it makes it difficult to push on the tabs and get the plug out...other than that...they are tabbed connectors...they will come out if you push the tabs and pull on them carefully....

The cables that connect to the hvac controls I believe have a little tab that can be pushed in with a small thumb or screwdriver, then pulled free. The ones on the back of the radio proper have squeeze connectors. It should feel like you're breaking your fingers squeezing those ones, then wiggle and pull as hard as you can. sometimes you can hear a little click of the clip popping free or back into place
