Cigarette / Assc. Lighter
 

I didn't know this when I bought the car. The Cigarette lighter and assc. outlet turn off when the car is off. Is is suppose to do this? If it is is there away to rewire so the outlet stays on?
I need to be able to leave my cell in the car to charge if I don't need it.

The power outlet has its own fuse, and the wire is yellow. If you can get to the back of the fuse block, underdash, it is #1 fuse, the top middle wire.

A good 'always on power source would be the 'room' light fuse, #12, bottom.

If you cut the yellow and bring it down to join the room light fused output (bottom middle wire, red stripe) it will be on all the time.
Another less permanent way would be to install a jumper wire from the room fuse to the yellow cigar wire. You would pull the cigar fuse, to stop power backfeeding all the stuff that is supposed to be turned off.

I have a question as far as the backfeeding. I attempted to jump by plugging from the interior light fuse to the accessory fuse, but as you mentioned it backfeeds power to stuff that should stay off, so you are saying to leave the accessory fuse not plugged in and the accessory plug will still work?
