Center console broke?

So let me see if i can explain this the best i can. we all know how the center console works. it slides back. and then can open to the side. well. mine no longer needs to slide back to open. and the sliding part keeps falling when it's opened. and i cant find any broken parts. any ideas?

Ditto. No idea :)

I had the same problem with my centre console. I advised my dealership of the problem, and console was replaced under warranty.

There are two small "glides" on the front of the lid that keep it in the tracks, and keep it from lifting while you slide it back. They can be broken off easily, and are not sold as a seperate part. The broken pieces probably dropped down between the console and the seat (one on each side). They are only about one inch long and made of black plastic so are hard to spot. They can't be glued back on.

You need a new lid.

It happened to me but was replaced under warranty. If you are out of warranty, you'll have to buy the lid.

word im not sure if im out of warranty or not. ill go tmro and check it out, cuz if not, there are several things they should fix.

so i went to the dealership. no warranty :( but i looked at the center console and the clips are still there. nothing broken...any new ideas? lol.

I had the glides replaced under warranty. It's a known weakness of design. I'm careful now not to lean my elbow on the console lid when getting in.

pics of the glides - they do fall off easily. i think I'll bring mine in for a warranty replacement as well...

Has anyone ever replaced the lid? Tuff?

Mine does the same, bump for out-of-warranty interest. However, my cover's favorite pastime is to smash my elbow/ shut on top of my phone/ knock small drinks forward/ other shenanigans whenever I tap on the brakes. It's like its spring loaded to shut and gets triggered with even the slightest pressure on the brake pedal. It's probably my favorite feature next to the high quality sun visor assemblies

I had to replace mine and it was pretty easy. And I am all thumbs, the opposite of a person you'd describe as "handy".

A bit of a botch fix for the "spring loaded" issue - mine did the same.
I disassembled the lid (so I took off the upper sliding part) and placed a thick layer of electrical tape on the "nipple" that the lid is supposed to snap into.

Fixed it for me.

That worked pretty well. A little too tight now so I may have to remove a layer of tape, but all in all I feel secure knowing that my drinks can rest easy without the threat of decapitation
