Center console black out! Please help!!

I've been doing my best to research this issue and all I seem to find are other people complaining or agreeing that they are having their own version of this and not really any valid solutions to fixing the problem.

Anyways, a week or so ago my cigarette lighter, which powers my radar detector, gave out and stopped putting out power. I thought initially it was a bad splitter that I have plugged into said cig lighter and then split to my gps and speeding ticket avoiding device. Well while lagging on getting around to replacing the splitter my entire center console started to randomly flicker but then continued working. Next time I get in the car and hit the first bump.... total black out. Some people say that theirs went out but the stereo continues to work. I've got nothing, no heat, A/C, radio or display. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT THE TIME AND TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS??? :wallbash: I've pulled out all the necessary fuses and none are bad.

So, my question is where do I troubleshoot next? Should I pull out my head unit and see if the connections are bad? Why would the entire unit just flicker a few times and then stop working completely out of nowhere? I'm not electrically nor audio system inclined so please bear with me.

I had this issue, the faceplate of the head unit was broken and the the circuit board would come unplugged from the face unit, causing me to lose everything. It happened from years of having taken the head unit out many times for various reasons. I was not as careful as I should have been. I ended up just replacing it with a new one after trying to glue it but the glue would not hold up more than 6 months or so.
