center console

my 8 has alittle under 3500 miles on it and the black clip that slides into the track on the center console is already showing white stress marks ... not to say im extremely delicate with my car but im not rough on it either... just seems early to be breaking when I cant recall ever forcing it down..

...anyone else have this problem??

Same thing happened to me, It is very delicate, I accdently leaned on it and the little black clip busted. Mazda replaced it free of charge.

we've got someone with the machinery to create a metal clip.. start bugging him :)

Metal clips will probably wear the center console slides where the clips rub at a very rapid rate. If we put in metal clips....we would need teflon or some harder slides as well. What we really need is Maxda to realize that they S****ED up an fix it properly with a re-design of the whole center consolee area. The heated seat switches are a pain as well :D

Mine broke too at about 9000 miles.
Mazda replaced it free of charge, and paid for a rental car while they did it.
Seems a bit fragile considering it's location.
...It's hard not to rest my elbow there while driving

I think I leaned on it and thats how it broke but I only noticed this after a friend installed my HID. I believed he broke it cuz he didnt know how to open it. But someone said that he leaned on it and it broke and I thought hmm I kinda always lean on the center console so I guess it was me hehe oops
