CD stuck in CD player

OK.......so I put a CD in (audio CD) in my stock MP3/CD player and it goes into an infinite "Reading disc" mode. It won't eject. Absolutely nothing happens when you press any function. The radio works fine, but when you press "CD" it flashes "reading disc" forever.

Before I pull it out and throw it in the river (yes I know it is under warranty....but I have anger problems ;) )...is there any button sequence to reset it? I will try to disconnect the battery for a minute or two as a last resort.

any ideas?

Gyro,

This happened to Tigger a few months ago. You may want to send him a PM and ask how he removed the CD.

----probably should have tried this BEFORE I started a thread about it......

oh well, I'll leave this thread here in case someone needs to search for the same problem.

When you disconnected the battery terminals, the CD ejected immediately and silently, didn't it?

That's how it works on mine. It was spooky the first time...caught me off guard.

how do u disconect d battery

Gyro 03-13-2008 11:27 PM

loosen the negative battery terminal and remove it for about ten seconds. Hope it works for you.

defo negativ? cos sme ppl sayin positive

Gyro 03-14-2008 10:04 AM

You can do either really. I have always pulled the neg when I needed to reset something.... habit I guess. If you pull the positive cable, just hold it away from anything metal for about ten seconds.

I had this happen to me twice. The first time I pulled a battery cable (pulling negative recommended, cause it's safer if you drop it).

However, second time, I was in an area where I didn't have a 10mil socket handy. Instead, we figured out that we could pull the ROOM fuse (I think it's the bottom fuse in the interior fuse block on the driver side). The fuse puller is inside the fuse block in the engine compartment. Pulled the fuse, waited a bit, turned the car to ACC to make sure the radio was really dead, put the fuse back in and, BAM, CD player reset.

So recommended method now: pull the ROOM fuse, less hassle than undoing a battery terminal, plus you can do it anywhere your car is.

FYI. Mazda will replace this under warranty if you ever can't get it out at all - this happened to me with my protoge 5 before I had my 8, and they just switched it out with a new one.
