Can you install a new head unit in an RX-8
 

Hi, I just want to know if you can change the radio that comes with the car. I want an MP3 CD player like a Rockford Fosgate, but because of the way the console is designed, it doesn't look like you can do this. Can you?

Not until someone comes out what a kit to allow a DIN (or double DIN) sized head unit to fit in the stock opening. No one has released one yet.

yes you can change it but you cant mount the headunit in the dash

I believe Mazda produces an official CD/MP3 player option that fits in the top half of the "circle". It's only a single disc system, but it's official Mazda parts and will thus fit right into the fascia (plus I would hope it should plug into the LED display, too...)

I have the mp3 option,the display shows the song,it's cool. :)

I might have to upgrade to the MP3 player, then... and I'm glad I didn't spring for the 6-disc changer immediately. :)

Ugh, this car is going to suck my account dry... All the things I want to buy for it already, and I haven't even experienced my first loan payment yet. :P
