bose sound, bass stops intermittently

My rx8 has the bose sound system. From time to time the bass stops on the right side of the car, i think its the one in the door.... When i hit a bump it comes back on. I suppose it has a loose connection somewhere? Where should i start? The back of the radio? I looked through the stickes and only found issues about crackling and complete losses of sound.

Start at the speaker. Ensure the cables are all connected properly. If bumps are making it go in and out that'd be the first place to start. If the cables are connected to the speaker nice and tight then chase the speaker cables makes sure none are getting crimped.

Also be sure that any part of the exposed wire (if any, is NOT touching metal outside of the speaker. This can also cause audio/stereo weirdness.

The other thing to keep in mind, if this is occurring with your iPod, I have the same issue with some songs. My iTunes, at one point, had the mp3 sound volume leveling start. This screwed up some of my songs and the bass seems to kick out. If it is happening with CDs and the radio... well see above.

It may be a bad relay in your Bose amplifier located next to the speaker in the door. You can verify this by turning the stereo on and tapping on the door panel right where the small amp sits. If it comes on and off, it's either a loose connection or the relay inside the amp is dying. Search for bose relay as I'm in the middle of fixing mine. I may do a write up on it as I'm collecting pics right now.
