Interior Lights

Hi,

I went ahead, after reading threads here, and replaced all my interior lights. I went with dark red. Map lights, courtesy lights, trunk light took 194 and 2825 being the same bulb.

The dome light took a 3022 or 3021being the same part

Then I used two LED strips for the foot well lights. I made sure both gave even light across the foot area but was not visible. They called them v-link strips.

And yes they are waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy more red in real life .

Take care,

Brian

They seem to light up the foot wells quite nicely. Not much heat either. $9.99 a strip. They do dim a little quicker but not too noticeable.

Take care,

Brian

Excellent idea! Red lights are much less apt to kill your night vision.

Wasn't tooo bad but when I got to the foot well lights, yeah it sucked.

Red lights are much less apt to kill your night vision.
You know that is what I read also. It was a tossup on red or dark blue.

Now you just replace the bulbs?
Yup pretty straight forward. I did a lot of reading here first. It comes down to use a small flat head screw driver and a small cloth. Wrap the screw driver with the cloth so you don't "mark up" your light covers. The dome light cover and door courtesy light covers just pop right off. I worked it out from the bottom up. The map light is reviewed in your manual if you have one. If not it only has two screws and then same thing, work the cover off carefully. On the LED strips I had a friend tap into my interior light positive cable at the fuse block.

what would i have to get to get green ones?
Go to V-Leds and search on 194 being the door lights, map lights, and trunk light. The dome light part is 3022. I see now that they have green ones. LED strips I could not find using search for you. You can click the link in my OP for those. Then maybe call them with the part number or search harder than I did on their site.

Next is the radio on/off **** from petit racing being brushed aluminum with the RX-8 logo. Then a Zen Enclosure sub box to replace my sqaurish one .

It's the small things in life that can make you smile .

Take care,

Brian

Actually it was snowing, icy parking lot and had been outside in it for around an hour. I am pretty sure that was me freaking shaking not the tripod or camera . Just kidding, I was too lazy at that point.

Take care,

Brian

Naw, I haven't done anything on the outside....yet .

However I have a new kicker box coming from Zen Enclosures and a 18 inch LED strip for the trunk and one more dark red 194 LED for the trunk light.

Thinking of finding some, if they exist, RX-8 logos to affix to each side of the kicker box.

Take care,

Brian

It looks very pimp and sounds like it'll be going more that way

Can you remember the quantities of the bulbs you ordered? I'm just looking to do the interior bulbs and puddle lights. Because I'll be ordering the stuff from the states I'd like to get everything I need in one hit (its cheaper to buy and ship from you guys than to get in the UK )

Also your floor lights look perfect, how many strips did you get and where did you power them from? Sorry for all the questions

4 of (2 for Map lights, 2 for door lights):
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...34247246249234

1 of (For dome light):

2 of (For the foot wells):

V-Leds were great on the phone prior to the order. Processing and shipping was faster than I expected. Quite simply they rocked .

No problem. Same way I was able to do this, between past posts and some nice people here clearing up my last bit of confusion it made the swap a no brainer.

Take care,

Brian
