I had bluetooth installed with my new Kenwood HU. Haven't had the chance to use it yet though. The microphone was installed and pointed down from the head liner right next to the front ceiling lights.

let me know how you like it

I had mine located there also. I didn't like it just hanging down though. I moved mine to the front of the headliner. Can hardly notice it when you are just sitting in the front seats and it still works good from there. I tested it before I secured it.

With exhaust mods, the cabin gets louder obviously. Do you guys with the mics installed have problems with it picking up road noise? Do the people on the other end of the line hear your car and everything or just your voice?

midlifer May 5, 2008 01:03 PM

no exhaust mods for me. I talk on it at around 70 - 75mph (highway) and never had a complaint from the person on the other end.

That's where mine is. I haven't had an actual call speaking but I called my answering machine at home and the call quality was fairly good and of course the stereo cut out in the background automatically. More convenient than wearing a headset though....

I just got this for my car...

I am using a vControl bluetooth. The mic is mounted above steering column and the controller is integrated into the center console. The company has gone out of business, but they come up on ebay every once and a while and work very nicely. See this thread for pics.

It has a noise canceling mic so it helps, but I have been told that people can hear the engine when I step on it, but it does not take away from the other person's ability to hear me. They just feel like a passenger.

Rems31: How do you like it? I am not a fan of the FM transmitters since the audio quality is usually crap. How's your experience with it been?

I've had it for about 2 weeks now. I find the quality to be pretty good.
You just have to find the best channel in your area. I do notice if I drive to a different part of the city that I have to switch stations to remove the static. But it's pretty easy to find a new clear station. I bought it for $100 so I think it's good for what it delivers. Plus I really like the verbal caller ID.
