Audo system mods

Hey, I am going to get a new 8 real soon. Wanted advise from experienced owners.

1. Is the navigation system worthwhile? Is it easy to use? Does it interfere with any after market audio system additions?

2. What is it like to put subs, new speakers, amps, etc. in an 8?

3. Is is possible to get a factory installed mp3 player instead of the 6 disc changer? One dealer was trying to tell me that that doesn't exist.

Thanks for the help.

get the nav if you have the money...reason: the awesome motorized monitor location...hack into the signal and put video in dvds/xbox/tv/etc also down the line you could potentially tear out the monitor and replace it with a HD res monitor and a touchscreen to a nice Carputer

2. Subs...hmm the bose system isn't easy to integrate with but possible...look around the forum

3. the dealer has to put it in after delivery...forget about that they will charge you arms and legs for retail parts and install SO...go to another dealer (ie canzoomer) get the mp3 for $200 and swap with the single disc/6 disc through a DIY install it is EASY as pie

Well, I got the nav, just picked up the car yesterday and must say it's pimp. I like it a lot. Now, the dealer told me that you can only do the navigation system with the screen and dvd slot ant that movies, games, etc. cannot be piped into the system. Was he just blowing smoke? I get the impression that most of these dealers don't know what they're talking about.

As for the mp3 player, I've done some stereo installation myself in the past on much lower end cars. Is it easy enough to get that center console apart, or is there somewhere that I could get a manual on how it comes apart, like from crutchfield
