Audio System Setup Question
I am looking into buying a single channel amp that puts out 500 watts. If i hook up 2 subs to that one channel will each speaker recieve 500 watts or do the 2 speakers split up the wattage since there on the some channel?

If you have an amp that does "500 Watts into 2 Ohms" then you can hook up two 4 ohm subs to that amp to create a 2 Ohm load. Each speaker will get 250 Watts. This is the most popular way to do things. Buy a mono sub amp and two 4-ohm subs. Stick with quality brands, JL Audio, MTX, and even Alpine has some nice very small powerful amps. -Mr. Wigggles |
