Audio Electrical Issue
Audio Electrical Issue
I've had this issue for some time now, but it just got worse. I have an 05 I bought about 2 years ago. When I got it, the two door speakers and the front center speaker were the only ones that worked. The front center speaker had a lil static, but it was tolerable. Then, all speakers stopped working. I had loud static coming from the center speaker so I just pulled the fuse. The display stopped working and now I can't change the airflow or turn the a/c on. I thought it was the head unit so I bought another from someone local and just put it in and I'm still having the issue. I'm guessing it's a bad ground somewhere. Any idea which one and where I and find it?
I've checked all connections. Just pulled the amp and looked at the circuit board for burns or loose solder connections. I forgot to mention that before it all died, the display would get really wacky and the air flow would change by itself. Everything looks ok. Any idea where the ground wire to the stereo connects to ground? It started raining so I'm gonna stop for the day. Tomorrow I'm gonna hook my meter up to it to see if I have good ground.
Ok. I didn't have good ground to the stereo when I stuck my meter into the ground pin. I snipped the ground and ran another to the body over the tranny and got good ground. I checked the ground to the a/c controls and the amp in the trunk and have good ground. Still the same problem. Anyone got another suggestion?
I can't figure this one out. Bumping one last time before I take er' to the dealership. Just found out I'm having a baby in 8 months, so in a few months, I may be interested in selling.
Climate control not working
Sorry for posting here guys but really need some assistance, I replaced the head unit with the relevant kit to a double DIN stereo but just cant get the AC (Climate control) to work, have connected every possible cable but nothing is happening??
If you have a metra kit, at would be your issue. Search for fixes specific to your problem that revolves around the kit.
The Metra kit will / should handle those correctly, if you hooked them up to the box correctly. Make sure all the appropriate wires are connected to the axxess box correctly.
If it's still buggy, try resetting the box by unplugging the main wire harness from it (the one that converts the rx-8's factory wire harness to the axxess box.

My guess would be bad connections. Every car I've bought had a crappy aftermarket wiring job. Check the continuity of each and every connection to the harness with your meter. I check them by attaching alligator clips to the wire on each side of the connection. If you get a 0, the connection is good.
Butt joints will go bad over time no matter what. If they are soldered, you may have an incomplete or cold solder joint.
