audio component suggestions
 

I know this is a totally subjective topic. I do enjoy the stock bose system. I added a powered 50 watt Bazooka tube. Not bad, sounds better than it did but I could use more bass.
I dont need to compete, nor do I need to rattle windows 10 blocks away.
I need a decent sub and a decent amp to compliment my bose system.
I went to several audio shops and was "sold" on everything ranging from 500- 1500 CDN.
They all could explain why there products wer better than the others, and why I should spend lots of money because "you have a nice car man, you don't want to dissapoint people who look at your car"
The guy who I trust so far was the guy who installed my tube. He suggested a kenwood typhoon 12 sub box and a Clarion amp.
He said I would more than likely be more than happy with that.
He was also the only guy to ask what I expected out of my purchase. He further suggested that he install the amp first, and then he would swap out several different sub boxes in my car that were in my price range.
The sub he suggested was bashed at another store and it was played next to an alpine type r sub at the same level. He did this to show me that the kenwood distorted way before the alpine.
My installer said nonsense. You have to listen to the sub in your vehicle at the volume you will listen to it, which would be way less than the level in a big wharehouse store.
It is confusing at best, and I am curious as to why this installer did not talk me up to spending a lot of money.
Anyway if you could recommend a nice little solid amp and perhaps a 10 or 12 inch sub in a porte4d box (I prefer accuracy to boominess) I would be greatfull.
