Ashtray Mod Rocker Switch Panel

I'm wondering if anyone has ever replaced the ashtray with a panel of auxiliary rocker switches to operate whatever in the vehicle. I'm looking to have one turn my amp on and off, another to turn underglow on and off, another to turn my carputer on and off and another for future use. Has anyone or can anyone fab a rocker switch panel?

yes, someone has. I can't remember off the top of my head though.

Underglows... please don't

Lol i don't have underglow, but it has crossed my mind. Wayyyyyyy at the end of the mod list tho. I've been searching google for the past 2 hours and I can't find anything. All i see is a mod changing the ashtray to a gauge cluster. Do you know anywhere I could look to find the mod i want?

since it seems like you have a amp and carputer why not just use the dummy buttons but the light and dsc buttons? that is what im doing once i find a pushbutton swith small enough to fit but powerful enough to handle 12 volts

Hard to put rockers there and look nice because of the curved surface. Some put switches on the little smile panel under the radio. Others (me) put them in the console.

It's a bit of an organization issue for me. i just want all the accessory switches together. Otherwise it will bug the crap out of me lol

I went this route...

^ That is where I have my turbo boost button mounted.

Well, one is for LEDs under the dash, the other is wired up with nothing going to it yet. Just don't have anything for it..

just custom make the piece.. where the ashtray piece is, cover it and put the switches there, that way you can fit 3-4 switches and have access to the power source on the right.

Thinking about it... if you took enough time to do it, you dont even need to fiberglass anything, just slap a piece of plastic over the existing ashtray piece that slips out and glue it and carefully sand the edges down so that it matches. then run all wires behind.

this also lets you close the lid for a stealthy appearance.

this is intriguing to me. I hate having the useless ashtray because i dont smoke and anyone who does is a retard and that space is completely pointless and underachieving. I've been trying to come up with different ways to use the space that arent gauges. If anyone has other ideas throw em out here so i can steal them!

saw your thread...nice DIY but i just wired my car link to go to the cup holders. I really like the accessibility of my phone from there but it seriously kills me that there isnt a better way to use that space where the ashrtay is so i may do that.
