Adding Sub to Bose System

Hi,

I needed some opinions or suggestions on what sub and amp to add to the system to get some additional bass. I don't want to wake the neighbors or it to be boomy. Nice and clean thumps to accompany the music. I mainly listen to trance/dance. The wife listens to hip hop/r &b.

I already have purchased a 4080 box.

For the amp I was looking at (probably cause its on sale ;) ):

And the sub I was looking at:

Thanks in advance...

bad combo the amp is only putting a 116watts out at 4 ohms. if you plan on using that sub you need an amp thats putting out around 300 watts at 4 ohm

a little hint. get an amp that is litterally 2x than what your subs can handle for one basic reason. speakers come and go .. but amps are warenteed for years. plus new tech in speakers .. .ie 4 voice coils .. materials...you may want to upgrade the speakers later. just turn the gain down. by turning down the gain you also ensure that the amp will never ever overheat.

while we are on the subject ... the pioneer shallow mount subs ... dam! my current fav! i have a hifonix zeus amp pushing them ...

Ok, after a bit more research..

For amp either:
Alpine M450 or Alpine M650 each outputting at 2 ohms..

Sub:
Pioneer ts-w257d4 (dual v coil, each coil at 4ohms)

If I understand correctly, I wire the coils in parallel so the 2ohms from amp will work?

So overall:

Tap into the wires before the Bose Amp. Run those to the speaker level input of the Alpine (or get LOC to run to RCA inputs). Tap in remote on wire to center console power. Power from battery, ground to somewhere in trunk.

Any glaring mistakes?

Thanks....

Invest in a good LOC...much better than speaker level inputs.

a good LOC can make or break the quality of your sound.

check out Audiocontrol or David Navone's NE-7V

If you are in Canada, drop me a e-mail to forbidden@telus.net and I will be glad to present you with some options. I am well versed in car audio and have done work on your car numerous times now. A good LOC is 100% necessary in your 8, after that a correct match of amp to sub to box. Lots of options to choose from, the trick is to do it right.

are there any pictures or directions on where to hook up the LOC.... I have one already and I am having trouble finding the right place to hook it up, I have the Bose stock system and I don't know if I should tap in behind the radio or if I can pull a signal from the trunk, I just want it to sound the best it can......

Check the DIY section for wire taps..... you hook it to the speaker wires in your trunk before the bose system amp.
