7.5A ACC Fuse Issue
 

The other day while driving my radio, HVAC LCD, and climate controls went dead and I suspected a blown fuse. Turns out that the 7.5A ACC fuse in the interior fuse box is what blew, and upon replacing it, the new fuse fries instantly once there's any power running through it.

I have aftermarket gauges that are ultimately involved with that fuse, but as it will be a few days before I can take the center console and dash apart, I wanted to see if anyone else has thoughts on what could cause that fuse to fry. I haven't touched any wiring for months and it's been fine up until this point.

Sounds like something is shorting out. Exactly how is it involved with that fuse, directly via a add-a-fuse or indirectly via some tapped line somewheres in your console? I am assuming the latter and it's sounding like one of your connections has become loose or is touching ground of sort. Until you are able to take the console apart and investigate, stop putting fuses in there before you fry the system.

Yeah, I'm pulling power and ground for the gauges from the lines intended for the factory navigation system, which I removed a while ago. It worked out nicely since the nav system turned on and off based on the key position--saved me extra wiring. After the first replacement fuse fried I haven't touched it; am waiting until I have a chance to take a better look.

Just wanted to update this; upon getting everything apart it turned out that the connection where I tapped into power was loose, so I figure it sparked and fried the fuse. Redid the connection and made sure everything else was tight and all is well.
