I just bought my '09 RX-8 GT last Wednesday. I discovered that the Play/Pause button in the upper left corner of the controls doesn't work to pause CDs. I can't even find mention of its functionality in the manual. They go into silly detail over every little button and function, but they never mention the Play/Pause button that I can find. CDs are the only media source I can imagine it working with, and it does nothing. It's not a huge deal, since I can just hit the power button, but why put it there, then? ????

 

the '09's have a pause button?? Sorry, wish I could help but my 05 has no such button.
(I always wondered why most car companies don't put pause buttons on their stereos, only mute...)

 

Yes...i've noticed this too...didn't spend much time worrying about it, but come to think of it, it would be nice if it DID work.....

 

I have the 09 RX8 R3 with Bose system and I have NO PAUSE Button!! what gives...My 04 did have one though, but i think since then they replaced the Pasue button for the PHONE button

 

The 04-08 models don't have pause buttons, they have a mute button on the steering wheel which simply mutes the speakers, but anything running on the head unit (CD, iPod, etc.) just keeps on playing.

A pause button would be a nice addition, but wouldn't help when listening to radio. They need to make a pause/mute button that stops anything that's playing as well as muting the speakers.

 

WTF.....just made a discovery by accident (don't they all happen that way....)

I was listening to Sirius/XM and I hit the Play/Pause button....well....the display shows "IR <Artist Name> (or whatever you have set to display)" and it PAUSED the radio....It usually shows SR# and your display set, but it switches over to IR....and after 5-10 seconds I hit the button again...and the radio started back right where I paused it....WTF?!

Rather interesting that it works on sat radio and not a CD.....lol
