Where Can I Buy Stainless Steel Fender Strakes and Rotary Accents?

Do any of you know where i can purchase or order a pair of stainless steel fender strakes and possibly rotary accents? Ive checked a couple sites on here where they sell accessories, but all i seem to find are aluminum fender strakes. I went to rx8-accessories.com (the only site i found where they do sell these types of strakes) but this site didnt look so reliable and im not sure if theyre located in the U.S. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks. If they dont sell these anywhere around here.....Could you guys tell me of a good Rx8 accessories site, ive been looking at mazdaparts.com or mazdatrix.com but cant seem to pick the better one.

I'm just looking for some Shiny lookin accessories for my 8. :D

That site's in England and has been used quite a bit around here. He's on ebay as well. Search some more in the threads on strakes and you'll see buyer opinions. This thread has some references to the stainless steel strakes.

Just ordered a set of strakes from them, & the rotary crest. Both look high quality & are very nice ! Came fast, no problems whatsoever.

I bought stainless steel strakes from Howard at http://www.rx8-accessories.com/index.html. They are a beautiful pieces of British craftmanship, cast locally and machined and polished by Howard.

Here is some information Howard sent me about his strakes:

Glad you are pleased, I spent about 4 weeks machining the mould and then they are precision cast. The only down side is they are hand polished and it is a very long and tedious task.

Point might be of interest I made these because I purchased the official Mazda set in alloy for £165 and they oxidised and looked very poor after only 8 weeks, I wanted them but had to think of way of keeping them looking good and this was it, I use a foundry that does castings for the aerospace industry so they are very high accuracy, only problem is I make about £7 a set and I am not sure how much longer I want to keep doing them as it is quite a lot of hassle, it was not done as a business venture it was done to show Mazda what a rip off there units are. Funny enough Mazda Europe have purchased a set off me so maybe they will do stainless soon or are going to start a law suit against me, don't mind either.

Whoa... I bought mine from Howard off ebay but I KNOW I didn't pay that much.

(and VERY happy w/the quality, BTW)

Howard sold them for 65 GBP plus 10 for shipping on eBay. That works out to about $134 U.S. dollars

dazygirl415 08-09-2005 10:24 AM

That sounds a little better.

Yea i emailed him and he said it should come about 224 for both the fender strakes and front rotary accent

I could have sworn I was just looking at a site the other day at work that sold mazda factory parts. They had 2 kinds of strakes: polished aluminum and "satin" aluminum. I wonder if the satin is just the old crap they used to sell!

But then I found another site that's in all japanese (but it's a really nice site) that lets you click on certain mods and shows you what they look like. All the mods are mazda or mazdaspeed. They also had the 2 diff colors of aluminum strakes.

Man I need to start emailing myself the links to the sites I browse at work.

Aluminum is aluminum no matter which way you disect it. If you can keep it from being exposed tot he air, it won't oxidize. Howard said the Mazda product eventually corrodes and pits.

Pictures attached.

Virtual Garage, awesome site even though it's in japanese.
If you can manage to find the link that adds strakes to your car there are 2 different kinds. One is more shiny than the other.
